Job Description
We’re seeking a full-time Rx Market Specialist to run our community-partnered Farm Fresh Markets and support daily market operations. These markets are operated on a recurring basis at organizations like non-profits, schools, and churches to increase access to fresh, local food. This role staffs markets four days a week, helps coordinate part-time market staff during prep, and manages essential behind-the-scenes tasks like supply ordering, label printing, and inventory tracking. The Specialist also supports community outreach and partner engagement alongside the Program Manager.

Weekly Schedule

  • Standard schedule is Tuesday–Friday for Farm Fresh Markets, with weekly program refresh tasks on Mondays
  • Most workdays (including prep and market time) will run approximately 8 hours, with flexibility depending on market needs
  • Occasional weekend shifts may be required

Responsibilities

  • Operate and staff Retaaza’s Farm Fresh Markets four days per week, including loading/unloading, setup, sales, and breakdown
  • Serve as Retaaza’s representative at markets, acting as the first point of contact for shoppers, building relationships, and fostering a welcoming community environment
  • Assist the Program Manager with community outreach, site partnerships, and engagement efforts as directed
  • Manage behind-the-scenes tasks as directed: supply ordering, inventory, labels, market refresh, and prep coordination.
  • Support warehouse operations and back-end POS processes.
  • Adapt to market needs, including occasional weekend or multiple-market days.

Requirements

  • Tech proficiency: POS systems, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, label printers.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; comfortable driving company sprinter vans.
  • Strong customer service, communication and relationship-building skills; ability to engage comfortably with diverse communities; retail, farmers market, grocery, or produce handling experience is a plus
  • Organized, dependable, able to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet.
  • Mission-driven, adaptable, and a collaborative team player.
  • Comfortable working independently and unsupervised in community settings
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or valid medical waiver) and up to date on seasonal flu vaccine
  • Able to pass a criminal background check (required for community-based market sites). We operate markets in settings such as schools and early learning spaces that can have restrictions related to some past convictions.
