Julian Woolard

Julian Woolard is passionate about creating meaningful connections between people, purpose, and the planet. At Retaaza, he brings his expertise in talent acquisition, sustainability, and community engagement to strengthen local food systems and advance equitable, environmentally responsible practices.

With a background spanning recruiting, waste reduction, and community organizing, Julian has led initiatives that include reducing dining waste by 20% at UC Santa Cruz, founding a Fair Trade Town campaign, and helping Too Good To Go expand its mission to fight food waste while developing inclusive hiring practices. His experience also includes leadership roles in hospitality and student engagement, where he fostered strong teams and inspired collective impact.

Julian holds a degree in sociology with a focus on social inequities and champions equity in every space he enters. When he’s not working to build a more sustainable and connected world, you’ll find him playing Dungeons & Dragons, doting on his cat, or thinking strategically at the poker table.
