Leah Whitmoyer brings a deep passion for plants, food access, and global food systems to her work at Retaaza. With experience spanning from local farms to international research, Leah has worked to understand and strengthen the connections between people and the food they rely on. Most recently, she was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Tunisia, furthering her exploration of sustainable food systems and community resilience.
Previously, Leah supported urban agriculture initiatives in Athens, Georgia with UGArden and other community organizations, conducted environmental research with the U.S. Department of State, and contributed to agricultural and economic studies at the University of Georgia.
Fluent in Arabic after years of study and travel throughout North Africa, Leah brings a global perspective grounded in curiosity, listening, and learning. Outside of work, she enjoys embroidery, reading, hiking, and playing trivia—whether she wins or not!
