Meet Our Farm Partner: Diamond Hill Farm
At Retaaza, we celebrate Georgia farmers whose hard work and harvests bring local produce to our tables. Today, we’re happy to highlight Diamond Hill Farm, nestled in Athens, Georgia.
Diamond Hill’s Origin
Diamond Hill Farm began in 2012, when Carter Dodd, a former music venue manager, decided to follow his passion for growing food. What started as a backyard hobby soon blossomed into a family-wide operation, with Carter and his wife Shelley building a farm rooted in love and hard work.
By 2017, their dream had grown into an undeniable reality. Diamond Hill Farm relocated to East Athens, expanding onto nine acres adjacent to their property and leasing additional land to grow even more vegetables, fruit trees, and muscadines.
Today, Diamond Hill Farm is thriving, with over 100 varieties of vegetables, a bustling orchard, and vibrant specialty cut flowers.
Certified Naturally Grown
As a Certified Naturally Grown farm, Diamond Hill Farm embraces the same core values as organic farming: no synthetic fertilizers, no harmful pesticides, and a deep respect for ecological balance.
In growing their flowers and veggies, the crew prioritizes practices that give back to the land – building soil health, encouraging biodiversity, and honoring the natural rhythms of the seasons.
Community Support Agriculture Offerings
Diamond Hill Farm offers a CSA box for local produce lovers and supporters of the farm. The contents of a “veggie share” vary each week but always reflect the best of what’s in season, with staples like lettuce, squash, and tomatoes appearing more frequently.
In the spring, you can expect tender greens like kale, collards, arugula, and lettuce, along with root vegetables such as carrots, radishes, and turnips. They also include fun seasonal highlights like strawberries, green garlic, fennel, and endive!
As summer heats up, your share will feature favorites like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, okra, and onions, plus some heat-tolerant greens.
When fall returns, look forward to sweet potatoes, winter squash, hearty greens, crisp roots, and tender salad mixes – perfect for cozy meals as the weather cools down.
More than just a farm, Diamond Hill is a hub of connection. Their community-first philosophy builds bonds between customers, local farmers, and their own crew. They’re all-in when it comes to nourishing both people and the earth.
Their commitment to ecological farming, teamwork, and quality shines through every harvest – and we hope you’ll taste and experience it for yourself!
