Retaaza Expands Access to Fresh Food Through New MARTA Markets Partnership

May 9, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Atlanta, GA — May 9, 2025 — Retaaza, a woman-owned B Corp and social enterprise dedicated to making fresh, locally grown food accessible and affordable, is thrilled to announce a new partnership with The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to bring high-quality, Georgia-grown produce and heart-healthy shelf-stable pantry items directly to MARTA transit riders through their MARTA Markets.

With over 60 million riders annually, MARTA stations provide a powerful platform for Retaaza to expand its food access impact by meeting people where they are - on their daily route. The partnership aligns with Retaaza’s core mission: supporting Georgia farmers, reducing on-farm food waste, and combating food insecurity.

The collaboration follows a surge of momentum for Retaaza, including the launch of two new weekly Farm Fresh Markets in metro Atlanta, a local mixed produce Wellness Box program that pairs along side nutrition classes and also offers food aid organizers a boxed grocery supplement option, and a Mobile Market that eases the burden of fresh food access by bringing Georgia-grown produce directly into neighborhoods, corporate campuses, healthcare hubs, and faith centers across the state.

Starting this summer, Retaaza will operate pop-up Farm Fresh Markets at MARTA stations including West End, H.E. Holmes, Bankhead, College Park, Kensington, Doraville, and Five Points. The MARTA Market at Five Points is temporarily closed due to construction. MARTA Markets will offer affordable fresh produce in neighborhoods with limited access to groceries, making Georgia Grown fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples more accessible and convenient. By accessing these MARTA Markets that operate at transit stations, MARTA riders get easy access to fresh food, enabling them to make purchases while traveling on trains and buses.

As they do at all their markets, Retaaza will continue to offer a multitude of payment options to shoppers including SNAP/EBT. Shoppers using SNAP will continue to receive a 50% discount on the dollars that they spend on produce.

“We're excited to expand our food access work across the city,” said Kashi Sehgal, Founder and CEO of Retaaza. “This partnership allows us to serve more Atlantans and bring affordable, fresh, locally grown food to more neighborhoods. We look for opportunities to multiply impact through our work and this allows us to do just that by helping many groups of stakeholders at the same time - neighbors, farmers, and communities all over Atlanta.”

Founded on the principles that all farmers should be paid fairly, that no food should go to waste, and that every Georgian deserves access to a healthy meal, Retaaza is refreshing the way we feed community through hyper-local connectivity.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
